Standardized test scores remain a valuable metric for schools to predict academic success and to differentiate between similar applicants, regardless of grade level.
Preparing for these tests, however, doesn’t need to be scary. In fact, it never should be.
Approach
I help test takers of all ages navigate the demands of standardized tests through consistency, empathy, and accountability.
Ultimately, students succeed on standardized tests when they feel comfortable with the material and confident in themselves.
Content first
Strategy second
I advocate for a Content First, Strategy Second philosophy because real confidence on test day comes from mastery, not just maneuvers.
Before we dive into time management or guessing techniques, we focus on closing any underlying knowledge gaps. By ensuring students fundamentally understand the scope of their respective exam, we ensure their scores are built on a bedrock of skill rather than a lucky roll of the dice.
Goals
Every student comes to the table with a unique academic profile. Setting a universal target score often ignores the reality that no two students are the same.
Test Prep, therefore, should be tailored to each student’s specific learning trajectory. A great tutor doesn't just teach the test—they discern the difference between a growth area and a temporary plateau.
By moving away from arbitrary benchmarks, I focus on maximizing a student's personal best. This ensures that students feel appropriately challenged without becoming overwhelmed.

About Me
I come from a family of educators, so a passion for teaching is in my DNA. I began my tutoring career in Florida, where I developed ISEE and SSAT curricula for an independent test prep company and gained a deep understanding of the mechanics of standardized tests.
In 2020, I moved to New York and transitioned into the classroom as a 9th grade Algebra teacher. During this time, I also served as an executive functioning coach for students with ADHD, dyslexia, and dysgraphia, as well as those on the autism spectrum.
I then transitioned into full-time private tutoring to focus on one-on-one student growth. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of helping scores of students in both New York and Miami decipher standardized testing and gain admission into their top-choice schools.
At its core, my approach is informed by my time in the classroom. I use my knowledge of grade-level benchmarks to ensure that every strategy I teach is grounded in the academic skills students encounter every day.

Testimonials
The results exceeded all of our expectations. My son scored well above what we had hoped for and only needed to take the test once. We were truly blown away.”
Claudia (ISEE Parent)
“I highly recommend our incredible tutor, Sean Stack for any families preparing their kids for the ISEE/SSAT exams! Sean worked with my son diligently and was supportive, patient and kind--and my son performed really well as a result of his guidance.”

“I really appreicate the level of detail that went into each of Sean’s lessons. Our daughter has ADHD and usually has a hard time focusing on the task at hand. Sean showed up to her sessions with a gameplan of what to do and how long to spend on each activity so that she never got too tired.”
Mike (SAT Parent)
“Sean explains concepts clearly and patiently, helping kids truly understand the material. He also worked with both boys on smart test-taking strategies. Those really helped them manage their time better and stay calm under pressure.
He helped our younger son build real confidence. Our son walked into the ISEE feeling prepared and calm and did very well. For our older son, we didn’t have much time before the SAT, Sean quickly identified weaknesses and targeted them effectively. Our son felt extremely confident going into the exam and performed amazingly well. Sean was even available the night before both exams to answer questions, which helped a lot.
Sean is flexible, always willing to help, and made a genuine difference for both boys in their scores and in how they felt about the tests. I highly recommend him to any family needing an outstanding ISEE or SAT tutor.”

“Sean starting working with our son T— after his first SAT exam to help him improve his first score. At first I was nervous that tutoring would be too intense for my son but it turned out to be very manageable. Sean was a good listener and always did what he could to make T— feel good about his work. He took the exam again after 3 months of weekly sessions and jumped from a 1260 to a 1420! We’re really happy with the result.”
